The Saint George Island, Piney Point, and Tall Timbers region of St. Mary’s County is an essential part of Maryland’s watermen history. For many years the people in these community lived off the water by fishing and crabbing in the summer and working oyster fields in the winter.

Landings at Piney Point is a popular waterfront community in Tall Timbers, Maryland. This private community features a pool, play fields, playground, a marina, and much more.

Piney Point, Maryland is known for the Paul Hall Center for Maritime Training and Education, houses along the beach, and for its incredible lighthouse.

Cross over the bridge onto Saint George Island and you will find yourself surrounded by breath-taking views of the Potomac River and beautiful creeks that make up Saint George Island.

Tall Timbers is another one of St. Mary’s water side unincorporated communities. Lined with waterfront cottages and beautiful farm lands.

When visiting this area don’t forget to check out Saint Mary’s Lake with its 250-acres of water that is ideal for fishing and features a 7.5-mile hiking trail. Also, in this region is the Saint Mary’s State Park that offers over 2,000 acres of land for those seeking mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and/or a great day outdoors.
