Charlotte Hall

Charlotte Hall

The northern most community of St. Mary's County, borders Charles County. Charlotte Hall is well known for its historic Charlotte Hall Military Academy (CHMA), established in 1774 until it closed some 200 years later. A fun fact about CHMA, a young Sylvester Stallone is included in the many accomplished alumni. Once the doors closed to CHMA, work began on converting and expanding the property to "Serve Those That Served"; by 1985 the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home was opened and continues to provide care for our veterans.

Charlotte Hall also features part of the Amish community and has an extensive Amish market in front of the Southern Maryland Regional Library. This town is a real charmer and offers residents qucik access to Golden Beach, Maryland along the Patuxent River to the east.
